However, we have been on a hunt and are trying to solve a mystery...
Our house was a flip. The couple (Kevin and Tami) we purchased it from have become friends already. They've come over for dinner (our first dinner guests), and have invited us to church. They've told us stories about the house and how it looked when they purchased it at an auction on the Courthouse steps and what changes they made to it before we bought it. It's been fun hearing the stories.
One exciting story Russell and I can't shake is about the former-former owner. Apparently, he was a bit of a "miser". He didn't believe in banks, hoarded things and hid his money -- somewhere on the property. Kevin and Tami never found anything while they were fixing up the house and neither have we -- yet -- although there are corners of the crawl space under the house that are pretty dark...
Russell has found some fun finds in the garage and crawl space, like old window panes, doors and window screen frames (These are on my list of items to bring back to life and will be at an upcoming craft sale with Chalk Couture.) but, so far, no jars of money, jewelry or other valuables.
Then there is Major. He is on the hunt too. I have recently nicknamed him "rototiller". He has decided he likes to dig in the yard. There is a corner of the house he likes to dig at (mostly sand), and then also along the fence line underneath some bushes outside the kitchen window. (I don't mind him digging there so much because it was an old flower bed that has been over grown with grass, so he is actually helping me out by digging up the grass there.) Major hasn't found anything either.
The hunt continues. We might have to purchase a metal detector to find the treasure, but we will continue the search and hope to solve the mystery.
Until next time, the search will continue,
Roberta
The Traveling Crafter (finishing up at the retreat)
Good luck on the hunt. If I lived closer, I'd bring my metal detector right over. It's pretty accurate!
