We bought an RV -- Let the adventure begin!

If anyone had told me a few months ago that buying an RV to fulfill our dream of traveling the country, was going to be more difficult and would cause me to shed more tears than buying an actual brick and mortar home, I would have said that they were crazy in the coconuts.  Little did I know when we started the process earlier this summer...

Russell and I have looked and dreamed of hitting the road for years, probably since we first met and were living bi-coastal.  Whenever there was an RV Show in town, or we would drive by a dealership, we would stop and look to do some dream building for the future.  However, for the past 2 months, we have been in the "serious" process of selling our traditional home and purchasing our home on wheels.  The house sold quickly, and we close on the 29th.  The RV has been another story.

During the past few months, we have looked at countless RVs, at multiple dealerships, in 3 different states, looking at both new and used rigs.  We have done our research online to determine how big or small we wanted to have; which brand we preferred and had the best reviews; if we wanted to go with a gas or diesel engine; what amenities we felt we needed, and what would have just been nice to have; whether we wanted to purchase new or used.  We have dotted the "i's" and crossed the "t's", multiple times.  We have dealt with 3 different dealers in both Nevada and California.  We have been put through the ringer on it all.

Some of it was dealer error and poor organization, literally losing our pre-approval.  Some were issues with financing and being in the process of selling our home; and sure, some of it may have been our error, but those who know me, know that I am uber-organized and a little OCD to a fault, so I doubt it.

With all that being said and done, it is now water under the bridge.  As of today, we are the proud owners of a 2015 Holiday Rambler Vacationer.  We are in possession.

She (I'll call her Coco) is 36' long with 3 slides in a beautiful Espresso and Mocha exterior.  She has 3 TVs, a washer and dryer, an on board central vacuum system, 1 1/2 baths, and leather upholstery throughout.  While there is never enough storage where ever you live, we feel like we will have plenty to get us going, both inside and out.

This will be our home.  This is where I will conduct my crafting business, sharing with you tips, tricks and techniques for crafting organization on the road; highlighting projects you can create while traveling; and posting our crazy crafting adventures, whatever they may be.  This is where we will create memories with friends and family, and this is how we will see the sites throughout North America.  We are excited to begin this new adventure and hope that you will join us, by tagging along with us on our travels.

Be sure to follow our blog The Traveling Crafter to see where we are, what we are doing, and items we are crafting along the way and share the link with others, who want to participate in our happy travels.

Until next time and new adventures,
Roberta

  3. I think selling your home and buying an RV is an exciting idea. I’ve seen RVs that look so spacious and comfortable, and it really does create a home on the road. You are going to have so many wonderful experiences on the road, and it will make it worth all the stress that came with finding the RV.
