Pumpkin Decor -- All Chalked Up!

I purchased this white, plastic pumpkin at Walmart nearly a month ago while we were in Sheridan for some doctors appointments with the intent of chalking it up with some fall leaves to have as a decoration in the house.  It will probably find itself on the dining room table with a couple of other pumpkins or gourds around it, but I haven't decided yet.

I love the non-traditional color of the pumpkin for the colors I used (Plum, Pumpkin, Brick, Evergreen and Lemon Yellow).  I was hoping it would make the colors pop, but wasn't certain how chalking on plastic was going to be, since it is such a slick surface.

Well, I learned a thing or two, but am happy with how it turned out, such as:

  • It is a little more difficult, although not impossible to chalk on uneven surfaces
  • The transfers have a tough time sticking in the nooks and crannies, especially where there is more silkscreen and less vinyl.
  • You have to work fast!

There are a few imperfections that probably only I can see, but overall, I love how it turned out.
What are your thoughts?
Did it inspire you to Chalk it Up?

Until next time and more chalky creations,
