So this has NOTHING to do with scrapbooking, cardmaking, papercrafting, chalking or even crafting in general; however, I am a firm believer that cooking is creative, so I thought I would share this delicious dessert recipe that I created with everyone for Creative Thursday.
Each Wednesday evening we have a Bible Study at church. Bible Study includes dinner, which is awesome, because I don't have to cook... most Wednesday nights. Last night was the exception. It was my turn to help supply dinner. I was bringing dessert.
Because of my busy schedule, I knew I wanted something easy, that I could do in the crock pot, so I could keep it both easy and warm. So I made my own spin on a Dump Cake.
For those of you who have never made Dump Cake, it is just that... Dump it in and let it cook. Little to no prep involved, which is great for those potlucks or busy weeknights.
Earlier in the week, I found a recipe online for a Cherry Dump Cake in the Crockpot which looked good, but I wanted to up the ante. I love Chocolate Covered Cherries and thought I'd make a spin off of them.
So here is the recipe I created:
- Two 21 oz cans Cherry Pie Filling
- One Box Chocolate Cake Mix
- 1 Stick of Butter
Directions:
- Dump cans of pie filling into the bottom of a crockpot. (I line mine with a crockpot liner for easy clean up. If you don't have a liner, spray with cooking spray.)
- Melt butter in microwave in a medium sized bowl.
- Mix cake mix with butter until crumbly.
- Dump cake mix/butter mixture over the top of the cherries, spreading evenly.
- Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.
- Serve with fresh whipped cream. (Serves 8 - 10)
DELICIOUS!
I'd love to share a picture of the finished dish, but it was gone and I had made a double batch!
Hope you enjoy this version of Creative Thursday.
Until next time and more crafty creations -- in or out of the kitchen,
Roberta
