Welcome Buttercup Card

My kids and Russell will tell you that I am not the most sympathetic of people at times.  One of my favorite sayings is "Suck it up, Buttercup!"  Whatever it is, you will get over it and life will move on, with or without you, so suck it up.  LOL!!!

That is why when the stamp set Southern Sass (C1687) from Close to My Heart was released this past summer, I had to have it!  While it isn't exactly what I say, the connotation is similar and I love it!
Fast forward a few months... I signed up as a Designer for Chalk Couture and I quickly needed to choose a team name for my growing team of Designers.  That was easy.  Chalk + Buttercup = Chalk it Up, Buttercups!

So for new team members in my field of Buttercups, I send them each a welcome card, welcoming them to the Buttercups team.

But wait!  It's supposed to say Chin up!  How'd you do that, you ask?  Is it magic?

No magic.  I used a stamping technique called "masking" and the steps are simple.
Let me show you how:

1. Place your desired stamp on your block.  (Can you tell how well loved this stamp has become?)

2.  Stamp your desired image onto a Post-it Note.

3.  Cut out the desired piece you want to see and place the Post-it not in the desired spot on your card, page, etc.  (I won't want the Chin Up, so it is still on the Post-It Note.)  This will mask your un-wanted image.

4.  Line up your inked stamp to the image on the Post-it note and press firmly, but don't rock your block.

5.  Remove the Post-it Note and  view your results!  Only the Buttercup remains!

I love the masking technique for stamping unique images and sayings that I can't find elsewhere and I love my team of Buttercups!

If you'd like more information about various stamping techniques, check out my upcoming classes.  I offer a Stamp Camp to learn lots of different ways of stamping.

Or if you'd like more information about becoming a Buttercup, contact me!

Until next time, and more stamping creations,

It comes with a heavy heart to announce I will no longer be maintaining my Blog.  It will not be deleted... at least for now; however, I wil...
